Josephus Raspoort starts in 1966 with the production of mattresses in Lommel so he can provide his company in Beverwijk. In the beginning the mattresses were only ment for the Netherlands. This changed in the 70s when Polypreen started to serve the Belgian market, beginning with the production of comfort foams mattresses.
Growth and exports to Germany in the 80s caused an extension of the production facility. In 1992 the company was purchased by Mecaseat and this company introduced Polypreen on the French market.
In 2002 Polypreen took over the wholesale business of its sister company Sedac-Mecobel in Wevelgem, which transferred to Lommel. Polypreen strengthened its position in the Belgian market with this acquisition.
The beginning of this century was marked by environmental initiatives. It is a challenge for Polypreen to grow further with the current infrastructure.
